About the Opportunity:
The Space Planning & Industrial Engineer supports the organization's Tool Install, Facilities Engineering, and Manufacturing teams by developing accurate, efficient, and construction ready equipment layouts for a high-volume semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for translating tool requirements, facility constraints, and operational needs into precise design drawings that enable safe, efficient, and cost-effective tool installations.
You will work closely with system engineers, construction partners, tool vendors, and operations teams to ensure layouts reflect current as built conditions, meet all EHS and cleanroom standards, and support long-term fab flexibility. The position requires strong AutoCAD proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to apply Industrial Engineering principles to optimize space utilization, workflow, and tool placement.
This is a fast paced, hands-on role that blends field verification, design development, and cross functional coordination. Success in this position requires strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and a commitment to delivering high quality work that supports fab readiness and manufacturing efficiency.
What You'll Do:
  • Develop, QA/QC, and publish equipment layouts to Tool Install design and construction teams in alignment with onsemi standards, including all EHS requirements.
  • Optimize equipment placement for space efficiency, workflow, ergonomics, flexibility, cost, and constructability, applying Industrial Engineering methodologies.
  • Conduct field walks and accurately transfer as-built measurements and observations into design drawings.
  • Apply Lean and continuous improvement principles to streamline tool install processes and enhance layout standardization.
  • Communicate work status, highlight issues, and resolve conflicts with stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Interface with cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, construction, facilities, and operations.
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Job Requirements
What You'll Bring (Requirements):
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar engineering degree.
  • Min 3 years of direct layout, facility design, tool install, or equipment engineering experience, ideally including new construction and startup, and the ability to comprehend and interpret Tool Install design documents, equipment specifications, and drawing packages.
  • Min 3 years of experience applying Industrial Engineering tools such as workflow mapping, capacity analysis, and space utilization.
  • Min 2 years with Autocad to develop, review, and optimize facility and equipment layouts.
What Sets You Apart (Preferred):
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry or other advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, ergonomic assessment, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience performing time studies, workflow analysis, or discrete event simulation to support layout decisions.
