THE ROLE:

Plan, debug and manage manufacturing and characterization test programs for next-generation AMD microprocessors. Work on internal System Level Test (SLT) platforms. Debug test infrastructure issues including test HW, test SW, diagnostics and device-specific IP. Engineers must ensure overall compatibility, compliance, and test coverage of microprocessors from product definition through product qualification and into high volume manufacturing by developing product specific test hardware, software and diagnostics.

THE PERSON:

A successful candidate is one who can drive technical decisions independently, has accountability for accuracy, reliability and completeness of assignment results critical to the project's success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Is responsible for quality and timeliness of result for a portion of project/process.
  • Problems require analysis and evaluation using standard engineering methods.
  • Performs design or design-equivalent work on a portion of a project, process or activity of limited scope.
  • Has accountability for accuracy, reliability and completeness of assignment results which contribute to a managed project's success.
  • Execute product improvement activities to reduce costs, improve yield and resolve quality issues.
  • Other duties as necessary.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • programming experience with C++, Java, Python, C, or C#.
  • Familiar with general Computer Architecture concepts such as pipelining and caching, x86 architecture, and PC computer organization.
  • Courses in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Digital Logic, and Circuit Theory.
  • Understanding in Lean, XP, AGILE, Scrum, or Kanban processes and with revision control (GIT, SVN, CVS, or similar).
  • Familiar with Linux or Unix Operating Systems.
  • Familiar with Microsoft standard apps (i.e. Office), Microsoft Windows Operating Systems.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with geographically distributed product engineering teams.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or comparable disciplines
