About this role

We are looking for a highly skilled Shop Machinist to support advanced machining operations and drive quality outcomes across complex repair and fabrication work. This role is ideal for a seasoned machinist who thrives in a hands-on environment, takes ownership of challenging projects, and helps elevate team performance.

Competitive Pay: This position offers an hourly wage starting at $25+/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.

What You'll Do



  • Perform routine maintenance work, and report directly to a skilled supervisor
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics
  • Precision measuring
  • Efficiently operate engine lathes, milling machines, radial drills, and horizontal saws
  • Interpret and control the speeds and feeds machinery
  • Make fabrication sketches to repair/rebuild or duplicate components
  • Regularly test products after machining, troubleshoot errors & resolves difficult issues with minimal assistance
  • Works regularly with engineers and technicians who experiment with new products/ systems.
  • Assist with staffing-hour estimations relating to machine times and set up for quoting purposes
  • Understand and advise on labor/charge rate ranges for different areas of the shop equipment
  • Operate at least 50 percent of all machine's tools with a minimum of two of the following: Collett, Cincinnati, Metal spray operation, Simmons, Balancing Equipment, Bullard, Surface Grinder
  • Perform complete overhauls / major installs and complex machining
  • Provide root cause failure analysis of complex problems without assistance; and consistently repairs independently
  • Regularly provide equipment/system/ process/ training recommendations to improve reliability and/or performance
  • Regularly mentor & train junior technicians; and responds to queries



What You'll Need



  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training preferred
  • Several years of machining experience, with demonstrated progression to advanced-level work
  • Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Proficiency in precision measuring tools and machining calculations
  • Experience operating a wide variety of machine tools, including advanced or specialized equipment
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and solve complex machining problems independently
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, materials, and shop practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams
