Chief Financial Officer - Direct Hire | Orange County, CA

A well-known, privately held multi-location company is seeking a strategic, hands-on CFO to partner with the executive team and drive disciplined growth. This role owns all financial functions and requires strong Financial Planning experience, M&A experience, and the ability to navigate the complexity of geographically dispersed retail and wholesale operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic partner to the CEO, providing insight to support growth, profitability, and long-term value creation
  • Lead enterprise financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and long-range modeling
  • Develop and execute a scalable financial strategy aligned with aggressive organic and inorganic growth goals
  • Oversee multi-location performance including unit economics, margin optimization, and working capital efficiency
  • Design and monitor KPIs and reporting across retail and distribution channels
  • Maintain strong cost controls while enabling growth investment
  • Lead all M&A activity including valuation, due diligence, deal structuring, and post-close integration
  • Manage banking relationships, credit facilities, and capital strategy
  • Prepare board materials, investment memos, and financial analyses
  • Oversee accounting, financial reporting, tax, treasury, and internal controls
  • Ensure timely GAAP-compliant financials and a strong governance and audit framework
  • Serve as executive owner of the ERP platform, driving optimization, reporting automation, and scalability across entities; implementation or upgrade experience a plus
  • Lead and develop a finance team of 8-10 across accounting

Qualifications

  • Proven CFO or senior finance leader in a multi-location retail/distribution environment
  • Track record scaling through significant revenue growth ($100M+ to $300M+)
  • Strong M&A and transaction experience with a deal-savvy, growth mindset
  • Hands-on ERP experience in a complex, multi-entity environment; implementation or system upgrade experience preferred
  • Solid grasp of unit economics, inventory-driven businesses, and working capital management
  • CPA and/or MBA preferred; exceptional modeling and communication skills
  • Hands-on, high-integrity operator comfortable in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
