Project Engineers are responsible for project execution and control, and for ensuring adherence to project scope, budget, and time schedules from start-up through completion. They are accountable for handling specific technical aspects of projects appropriate to their field of discipline and functioning on multidisciplinary teams as both participants and leaders. They balance work on multiple projects of moderate size or portions of large projects and responses to proposals. They are responsible for implementing quality design control for the designs and projects under their control.

Expected Duties:

  • Prepare baseline environmental surveys and site assessments
  • Prepare and support NEPA documentation
  • Participate in and/or lead stormwater planning, design, and permitting projects
  • Participate and/or lead CERCLA feasibility studies, remedial investigations, and remediation design support
  • Requires strong technical report writing, data analysis, and coordination with project managers and regulators

Expected Outcomes:

  • Direct the project, ensuring the efficient and timely completion of the project to the client's satisfaction and in compliance with scope of work and quality and professional standards.
  • Ensure that projects are completed in a cost-efficient manner with adherence to budgetary constraints. Provide the client with the best results at the lowest practical cost.
  • Lead the technical support personnel and/or design team for assigned projects. Assume responsibility for all design decisions for the assigned projects and for validating the work of professional and technical staff assigned to each project.
  • Perform conceptual evaluations, design work, and validate the calculations of team members. Select equipment and material for projects and/or approve manufacturer's shop drawings, if appropriate. Consult with and advise clients regarding methods, equipment, and other items pertinent to the project.
  • Maintain regular and effective two-way communication (verbal and written) with the Project Manager (PM) (and client, as required) to ensure effective understanding of project deliverables, concerns, and progress from project initiative through completion.
  • Mentor junior team members, providing guidance and opportunities to build on their existing base of experience and improve their breadth of knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering (or equivalent field) from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) accredited program.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related work experience and the ability to obtain a PE license. A PE license is preferred.
  • Independent proficiency in the application of their technical field.
  • Ability to effectively lead a project team through design phases.
  • Effective basic project management and financial skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and present engineering concepts, designs, and data.
  • Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to carry out multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
  • Proficiency in computer-aided analysis and drafting technologies.
  • Ability to occasionally travel, as needed.
  • Ability to function in outdoor locations such as active construction and/or remediation sites.
  • Ability to walk long distances on varied terrain, climb ladders, and work at elevation.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to receive and deliver detailed information through written and oral communications.
  • Ability to function at a high level in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Special - Employees in hazardous, toxic, and remedial waste (HTRW) and Chemical fields will have the ability to meet requirements for functioning while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.

Salary Range: $81,549 - $107,791 - $133,824
