DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will support purchasing activities that keep the York County Maintenance District running efficiently. The role involves preparing bid documents, reviewing bids, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance with Commonwealth requirements. As a Purchasing Agent, you will perform the following duties:
- Bid Preparation: Prepare product/service specifications, create bid packages, and issue Requests for Quotes
- Bid Review: Receive, evaluate, and certify bids while checking vendor responsibility and compliance
- Contract Management: Prepare contracts or purchase orders, monitor validity dates, and track quantities throughout the procurement period
- Vendor Oversight: Monitor vendor performance and address issues to maintain service quality
- Financial Processing: Reconcile invoices, oversee purchasing card activity, and ensure that payments meet deadlines
- Asset and Supply Tasks: Prepare items for surplus or transfer and maintain an organized supply room

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
- Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.
