POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT The Vice President of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) is responsible for leading our safety Energy division at the operations level and integrating safety into day-to-day operations across all Energy business units. This leader will drive operational excellence through safety leadership while working closely with project teams (project management and field operations) to ensure consistent implementation of EH&S programs. This position includes daily interface with the client EH&S Regional and Field leadership representatives, and will report to the Senior Vice President of EH&S Energy Business. They will also lead a team of two EH&S Directors: Director of Field Operations - PV and Director of Field Operations - BESS. This position is in our headquarters based in Fort Lauderdale, FL. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead all EH&S operations for the Solar Energy business [Photovoltaic Cell (PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and Future growth opportunities] Provide direct safety oversight for multiple solar energy projects, conducting regular site visits and safety evaluations Oversee incident response protocols and corrective action implementation Ensure consistent application of safety standards across all solar projects Partner with operations leaders to integrate safety into project execution Develop tactical safety plans for high-risk project phases Respond to emergencies and critical safety situations as needed Develop and execute safety objectives and drive key results (OKR's) Drive continuous improvement in key safety metrics (leading indicators, TRIR, LTIR, DART) Analyze incident data to identify trends and implement targeted interventions Establish project-specific safety goals and accountability measures Oversee accurate incident reporting and OSHA compliance Develop and monitor leading indicators to prevent incidents Communicate daily, weekly, and monthly safety performance reports Identify trends and implement targeted interventions to address problem areas Ensure accurate incident reporting and OSHA, EPA, and state regulatory compliance Maintain high visibility across project sites through regular field visits Build strong relationships with craft workers, supervisors, and subcontractors Implement effective hazard recognition and reporting processes Develop field-level safety leadership capabilities in operations teams Create a culture of safety and ownership at all levels of the organization
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in safety, construction management, or related field - required 15+ years of progressive safety experience in construction or renewable energy - required 10 years in a Vice President Leadership Position with business-level EH&S responsibilities - required Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar professional certification - highly preferred Extensive knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and construction safety practices - required Proven track record of improving safety performance metrics Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Compliance with client EH&S requirements - required Compliance with EH&S regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, State-specific) - required Reduction in key safety metrics (Leading Indicators, processes, TRIR, LTIR, DART) - required Achievement of established Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) - required Increased hazard reporting and near-miss documentation - required Improved field compliance with Standard Work Instructions (SWIs) - required Positive feedback from operations, the self-perform leadership team, and field teams - required Timely closure of corrective actions - required Reduction in workers' compensation costs Improved vehicle incident rate - required Willingness to travel extensively to project sites (50%) - required
