This position is responsible for transportation, loading and unloading of clean and soiled laundry.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Valid Class "D" Driver's License. 3. DOT Medical Card through the Department of Motor Vehicles EXPERIENCE: 1. Three (3) years driving experience with a vehicle of less than 26,000 lbs size. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Commercial Driver's License (CDL) CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Maintains records, to include travel logs and mapped plans, for any/all transports. 2. Completes and maintains a Vehicle Condition Checklist with each use of the vehicle. 3. Maintains all transportation records according to state and federal regulations. 4. Verifies routine preventive maintenance schedules and checklists are completed. 5. Performs routine pre and post trip maintenance on the vehicle. 6. Performs cleaning of both the interior and exterior of the vehicle and trailers. 7. Conducts pre-service site visits as needed to ensure a safe travel and delivery plan. 8. Must use good interpersonal communication skills while interacting with customers. 9. Creates and executes safety policies in compliance with Linen Service and vehicle vendor guidelines. 10. Complies to and submits all documentation in compliance with policies. 11. Drives truck to transport and deliver clean and soiled laundry. 12. Maintains radio and/or telephone contact with Manager/Director or other designee to receive instructions or to be dispatched to another location. 13. Follows predetermined schedule of pick-up and delivery 14. Positions blocks and ties ropes around items to secure cargo for transport. 15. Operates equipment on vehicle to load, unload, or disperse cargo or materials. 16. Reports any damaged or broken equipment to Manager/Director immediately. 17. Performs loading and unloading truck manually as required. Delivers to designated drop off area. 18. Works in laundry area and/or sort linen as needed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Includes handling, lifting and carrying heavy items weighing up to 75 pounds. 3. Requires pulling carts weighing up to 600 pounds. 4. Requires the ability to operate the truck and equipment. 5. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. 6. Involves some irregular hours, high temperatures and high humidity conditions. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Involves working in very high heat and humidity. 3. Involves working in high and continuous noise level. 4. Prior driving experience with Laundry helpful 5. All drivers must complete training and orientation required of all employees. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Must have multi-tasking abilities. 2. Must use good interpersonal communication skills. 3. Must have the ability to efficiently work as a member of a team and must relate well with others. 4. All drivers must be able to travel, read maps and maintain travel logs. Additional Job Description: Rotating schedule could start as early as 1am. Weekends and Holidays as needed.
