Shutterstock Studios is seeking a Director of AI Services & Operations to lead a new vertical focused on custom data and production services for machine learning and model training. This role will report to the VP, Head of Innovation for Studios and have oversight over the production pipeline from project scoping through to delivery.

As Director of AI Services & Operations your focus will be to refine and further develop the processes and best practices for creating custom data at scale, working cross-functionally with senior managers across departments to bid and execute on the highest quality of commercial production work spanning a wide portfolio from illustration to video and game content. You will be responsible for connecting internal stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), while also helping to manage resourcing for production, post and technical teams.

The Day to Day:

• Set and drive the creative vision and quality bar for AI Services projects, ensuring exceptional output from concept through to delivery.

• Own the development of pitch strategy and scoping approaches to put forward the strongest proposals possible to help drive production revenue growth and unlock new business opportunities.

• Lead cross-functional strategies with Sales, Data and Production teams to develop creative briefs that align with client objectives and commercial goals.

• Support Bidding team to ensure projects are clearly scoped and operationally viable before handoff to production

• Translate client business requirements into clear project frameworks and implementation plans

• Direct and influence senior stakeholders across departments to design and implement streamlined, full cycle production processes - from award through to Quality Assurance and delivery.

• Define and establish new best-practice approaches for scale while further refining existing strategies for the sourcing and oversight of production teams by project type and the integration of pipeline automation.

• Own the strategic evolution of AI Services - identifying new opportunities, shaping direction and new ways of thinking to secure business.

• Build and cultivate a culture of high-volume creativity matched with competitive & scalable pricing.

• Maintain oversight across all production in post-sale through to delivery, establishing structured communication cadences with stakeholders to ensure creative and technical excellence and an excellent client experience.

• Act as a market-facing leader, staying ahead of global industry trends in AI and Data services - translating insights into competitive advantage and new capabilities to stay ahead of client needs.

What you'll bring to the role:

• Minimum of 10 years experience in production or post-production for large studios or media platforms, with at least 5+ years of experience in best in-class commercial production & branded content, at either a tech, streaming or media company

• Proven experience owning and scaling a product offering, or operational function, with accountability for revenue and/or margin performance

• Can point to a portfolio of work that scales from low to high budget executions for global brands and tech companies

• Experience designing and implementing scalable systems, workflows, or pipelines, ideally within data, AI, or technology-enabled environments

• Ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels, translating vision into execution

• Have a passion for innovation and a drive for bringing teams together

• Knowledge of production and post-production including high-volume delivery of media and corresponding metadata

• A direct and open communication style with a high comfort level working across teams and bridging knowledge and process gaps

• Experience working in a start-up environment and a love of building things

Note: Commission-eligible roles are expressed as on-target earnings (base and commission). Non-commission roles are expressed as base salary only but are also eligible for annual incentives.
