DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Bilingual Labor Law Investigators play an important role in protecting workers' rights by checking compliance with state labor laws and helping resolve workplace concerns. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Complaint Screening: Review and assess incoming complaints to determine proper handling
- Audit and Investigative Activities: Examine payroll records, timecards, and related documents for compliance, as well as conduct interviews, gather evidence, and inspect worksites to verify potential violations
- Collaboration and Education: Facilitate conferences with claimants and employers to resolve disputes, when appropriate, and provide information to employers, employees, and organizations about labor law requirements, including speaking and writing in Spanish
- Case Preparation: Compile reports, write letters and summaries, and prepare testimony for cases to prepare for potential legal action
- Enforcement Actions: Testify as the Commonwealth's expert witness in administrative or court proceedings

- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- This position may require frequent travel to the Scranton District Office for training during the first few months.
- Telework: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of technical investigative or construction and trades experience and a bachelor's degree; or
- Two years of technical investigative or construction and trades experience and an associate's degree in a field related to investigative or construction and trades work; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to fluently speak and write in Spanish.
- You must possess and maintain federally compliant identification such as a U.S. Passport, REAL ID, or Military ID. Proof of possession will be needed at the time of a conditional offer of employment.
- You must live in or be willing to move to the geographic region the Scranton District Office covers by date of hire. Expenses will not be paid. Counties Include: Berks, Bradford, Bucks, Carbon, Columbia, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montour, Northampton, Northumberland, Pike, Schuylkill, Snyder, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Union, Wayne, and Wyoming.
- You must demonstrate ability to adhere to the values and ethics of the Department of Labor & Industry.
- You must demonstrate ability to work with professionalism, discretion, and good work ethic.
- You must have solid written and verbal communication skills.
- You must show initiative and problem solving skill.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Experience in conducting investigations or working in construction and trades, business management, financial services, accounting, or conflict resolution
- An associate's degree or greater, in a field related to investigative work in construction and trades, business management, financial services, accounting, or conflict resolution
- Experience enforcing labor standards or labor and employment laws
- Experience testifying at administrative or court hearings
