What this job involves:

As a Sr. Building Automation Systems Technician at JLL, you'll be the technical leader driving optimal performance across our building automation systems in our Critical Environments portfolio. This critical role ensures our client properties operate at peak efficiency while advancing JLL's commitment to sustainable, cost-effective building management. You'll serve as the go-to expert for sophisticated automation systems, working across multiple high-profile sites where your technical expertise makes a measurable difference. From monitoring building health status to providing strategic recommendations on system design and upgrades, you'll be integral to how we deliver exceptional service.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Monitor and assess building health status across multiple sites, ensuring all BMS components operate within optimal parameters and identifying performance trends

  • Review and evaluate current maintenance practices, providing strategic recommendations to improve system reliability, performance, and longevity

  • Analyze BMS design architecture and provide technical input for system upgrades and future site implementations, ensuring scalability and efficiency

  • Troubleshoot complex automation system issues and serve as subject matter expert for escalated technical problems requiring advanced expertise

  • Collaborate with facility teams to optimize BMS efficiency, enhancing sustainability outcomes and reducing operational costs through intelligent system management

  • Conduct system performance audits and generate detailed reports on building automation effectiveness, translating technical data into actionable insights

  • Lead technical training sessions and mentor junior technicians on advanced BMS operations and best practices, fostering knowledge transfer and team development

Required qualifications:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in building automation systems management and operations across diverse facility types

  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical building systems including HVAC, lighting, and critical infrastructure with deep understanding of system interdependencies

  • Proficiency with multiple BMS software platforms such as Siemens Desigo CC, Trane Ensemble, Delta Controls, and other industry-standard systems

  • Strong expertise in instrumentation and controls for critical systems and HVAC applications, including sensors, actuators, and control logic

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with proven ability to diagnose complex system issues and implement effective solutions

  • Proven leadership abilities and strong interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration with engineering teams, facility managers, and clients

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation, client interaction, and presenting recommendations to stakeholders

Preferred qualifications:

  • Industry certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager), BAS certification, or relevant mechanical certifications demonstrating specialized expertise

  • Project management experience with building automation system implementations, upgrades, or large-scale system integrations

  • Knowledge of energy management principles and sustainability best practices, including optimization strategies for reducing consumption

  • Experience with IoT integration and smart building technologies that enhance automation capabilities and data analytics

  • Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and compliance requirements governing automation systems in critical environments

Estimated compensation for this position:

72,000.00 - 82,000.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
