What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a skilled an experienced Auto Damage Adjuster to join our growing Total Loss team. This role specializes in evaluating and settling vehicles determined to be total losses, ensuring accurate assessments and efficient resolution following Tesla repair and insurance procedures. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year's experience in auto damage estimating, proficiency in estimating software, and familiarity with insurance industry practices.


What You'll Do
  • Conduct virtual auto damage assessments and supplements for total loss vehicles using customer or body shop-provided photos
  • Communicate regularly and proactively with customers, providing timely status update on their claims until resolution
  • Complete detailed estimates and settle vehicles deemed total losses in accordance with company guidelines
  • Assess and calculate Actual Cash Value (ACV) for total loss vehicles using standardized valuation tools
  • Negotiate with auto repair facilities and insurance providers to finalize total loss settlements
  • Collaborate with underwriting teams to identify and report fraud indicators or risk concerns
  • Maintain compliance with Tesla's claims procedures and industry regulations for total loss documentation

What You'll Bring
  • 1+ years' experience as an auto damage adjuster with an insurance company or as a body shop writer
  • Experience with major estimating software
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to complete work individually or in a team atmosphere
  • Ability to travel to repair facilities for onsite inspections and other in-person tasks as needed
  • Driver's license required
  • Property and Casualty (P&C) adjuster's license in the state of domicile, plus non-resident adjuster's licenses in all other states where required-or the ability to obtain them within 60 days of starting
