As the
Assistant Branch Manager, you will support the Branch Manager with planning, organizing, and administering all branch activities. You will effectively utilize and supervise all retail branch personnel to provide customers with quality customer service and bank services according to bank policies and procedures. This is an on-site position with remote work by rare exception only.
How you will assist the Branch Manager:
- Confirm the branch is adequately staffed with properly trained personnel, and guide/advise/coach branch personnel in the more complex phases of their work
- Ensure staff is adequately trained in sales and services of all bank products, assist in developing internal programs to support branch sales, and help measure progress towards sales goals. May conduct monthly sales or operational meetings.
- Be responsible for the administration of established bank policies and procedures and assure effective implementation of all changes
- Maintain and reinforce Bank security and adherence to all regulatory and compliance polices
- Assist staff and customers with IRAs; monitor IRA reporting and review for accuracy; keep current on IRA regulations and requirements
- Function as back-up in the absence of the Branch Manager by managing branch operations and staffing, remaining flexible and making last-minute adjustments as needed; utilizing independent decision-making skills and sound business judgement in researching and resolving more complex customer transactions and issues; and making decisions on overdrafts and returns, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Function in a customer service capacity as dictated by business need; reinforce overall branch customer service standards by measuring and monitoring employees' performance towards these goals
- Utilize reports to evaluate branch productivity, align workflow, increase product sales and to assist the Branch Manager in making appropriate decisions to meet overall bank/branch goals
- Responsible for approving Medallion Guarantee following all regulatory and bank guidelines
- Ensure the Bank looks physically appealing and professional at all times
- Assist in implementing effective merchandising to sell and cross-sell products to existing customers and maintain the Bank's image
- As directed, work on bank-wide projects or activities with other department leaders and team members
- Participate in representing the Bank in community service projects; represent the Bank on a minimum of one board committee within the community we serve
- Perform other responsibilities as needed
What you will bring to the role:
- High school diploma or associate degree with at least 5 years of banking experience and 3 years of that in a supervisory position; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated working knowledge of bank operations, products and services, policies and procedures, regulations and compliance
- Strong interpersonal, management, team building, and customer service skills
- Demonstrated decision-making skills
- Proven track record of successful sales referrals of required and alternative products
- Understanding of IRA rules, regulations, and reporting. Knowledge of legal account titling and legal account setup, e.g., Trusts, UTMA, POA.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong technology skills
- Ability to effectively train and coach bank staff
