Role Summary

The Manager, Terminal Settlement & Customer Data is the operational leader responsible for the end-to-end accuracy, integrity, and governance of terminal customer and carrier data, volume accounting, and settlement outcomes across Buckeye Terminals. This role brings together leadership of the Terminal Volume Accounting function and the Customer & Terminal Data Coordination (CTD) function, ensuring that master data, inventory movements, and financial settlement processes are fully aligned, controlled, and continuously improved.

The Manager serves as the single point of accountability for data-driven terminal settlement accuracy, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and cross-functional coordination between Operations, Commercial, Accounting, Tax, Regulatory, and IT. This role balances people leadership, technical expertise, and strategic process ownership, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and customer confidence.

Core Accountabilities



  • Own the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of terminal data and volume accounting inputs that drive customer billing and settlement
  • Provide manager-level leadership across multiple teams/functions with distinct but interdependent responsibilities
  • Ensure strong controls, compliance, and audit readiness across settlement, inventory, and master data processes
  • Drive process standardization and continuous improvement across terminals and systems
  • Act as a trusted partner to Commercial, Operations, Accounting, and customers on settlement-related matters
  • Lead and support system enhancements, integrations, and acquisition data migrations



Key Responsibilities




  • Directly manage and develop leaders and staff within Terminal Volume Accounting and Customer & Terminal Data Coordination functions
  • Set clear expectations, goals, and performance standards; conduct performance reviews and talent development planning
  • Allocate resources effectively across workloads, month-end cycles, projects, employee PTO, and peak demand periods
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, customer focus, and continuous improvement


  • Own oversight of end-of-month volume accounting and settlement processes, including close execution and financial reconciliation
  • Ensure accurate tracking of inventory movements, gains/losses, and quality incidents across all terminals
  • Monitor settlement trends (over/shorts, gains/losses) by product and location; lead root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Develop tools, automation, and reporting to improve speed, accuracy, and transparency of settlement outcomes
  • Serve as SME for terminal settlement matters, including contract impacts and operational changes


  • Oversee governance and accuracy of customer, carrier, product, and terminal master data within the Terminal Management System (TMS)
  • Ensure proper setup and maintenance of customer profiles, carrier access agreements, certificates of insurance, and product attributes
  • Lead data readiness for new business, contract changes, and acquisitions
  • Ensure data consistency across Commercial, Operations, Scheduling, Tax, and Accounting interfaces


  • Act as liaison between Terminal Customer Services, Operations, Commercial, Accounting, Tax, Regulatory, and IT
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, tax, and regulatory requirements impacting settlement and data governance
  • Support internal and external audits through documentation, controls, and response coordination
  • Partner with Commercial and Scheduling teams on business changes, new customers, and operational impacts


  • Lead or sponsor system upgrades, integrations, testing, and automation initiatives related to settlement and data
  • Support data integration efforts for terminal acquisitions and business expansions
  • Identify and implement process improvements that reduce manual effort, risk, and rework
  • Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technology advancements affecting terminal operations



Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field (strongly preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in terminal operations, volume accounting, settlement, or master data management
  • Prior experience leading teams in a regulated, high-accuracy operating environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Terminal Management Systems (TMS) and related data flows
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret contracts, analyze data, and resolve complex settlement issues
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365; strong Excel and analytical skills required
