DESCRIPTION OF WORK
-
This position oversees the planning, organizing, and quality assurance of medical records throughout the Southeastern Veterans' Center. The role supports staff, ensures compliance, and guides record management systems that protect resident information. As a Medical Records Director, you will perform the following duties:
- Record Management: Maintain organized admission and discharge records to meet regulatory requirements
- Staff Supervision: Review staff work, guide performance, and support corrective actions when needed
- Policy Development: Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
- Documentation Review: Monitor records and provide instruction to multidisciplinary staff concerning proper documentation strategies
- Data Reporting: Prepare reports and statistical summaries for admissions, discharges, and other activities
- Safety Oversight: Identify safety concerns and take actions to support a safe work environment

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 1st shift (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM), Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. You may work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Registration as a Medical Records Administrator with the American Health Information Management Association; or
- Two years of experience as a Medical Records Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association; or
- Four years of experience in the preparation, classification and abstracting of medical reports in a medical records department; and registration as a Medical Records Technician with the American Health Information Management Association.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
