Job Summary The Life Safety System/Security Foreman is responsible for leading the installation, programming, and commissioning of commercial fire alarm and integrated life safety systems across data center and commercial environments. This field leadership role oversees crews, coordinates with project stakeholders and inspectors, and ensures all systems are installed, tested, and documented in compliance with applicable codes and standards. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to manage multiple project demands while maintaining safety and quality expectations. Job Responsibilities
Lead and supervise installation teams on commercial fire alarm and life safety system projects
Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction to ensure compliance and project efficiency
Program, test, and commission fire alarm control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, and integrated life safety systems
Review and interpret construction documents including blueprints, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and submittals
Plan and assign daily work activities to ensure efficient labor utilization and adherence to project timelines
Oversee installation of low-voltage cabling and field devices such as smoke detectors, strobes, pull stations, and annunciators
Conduct system testing, inspections, and acceptance walkthroughs in accordance with applicable standards
Maintain accurate documentation including inspection reports, punch lists, as-built drawings, and service records
Train and mentor technicians on installation practices, safety procedures, and code requirements
Enforce safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to site regulations
Communicate project progress, updates, and issues to stakeholders and leadership
Job Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial fire alarm system installation and service
At least 1 year of experience in a leadership or crew lead role
Proficiency with major fire alarm systems such as Notifier, Silent Knight, EST, Gamewell-FCI, Siemens, or Simplex
Working knowledge of applicable fire and building codes and standards
Ability to program, troubleshoot, and commission fire alarm and life safety systems
Certification in fire alarm systems preferred (e.g., NICET Level II or higher)
OSHA 10 certification or higher preferred
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights using ladders or lift equipment
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with standard office software applications
Ability to use required tools including multimeter, hand tools, cordless drill, punchdown tool, measuring tape, and appropriate personal protective equipment
