Job Summary
The Senior Windows Systems Administrator will support enterprise infrastructure operations within a government-focused environment, providing advanced administration, engineering, maintenance, and support for Windows-based systems and related technologies. This role is responsible for the installation, configuration, security, optimization, and troubleshooting of enterprise systems infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, authentication services, and Windows Server environments. The ideal candidate has strong expertise in Windows systems engineering, PowerShell scripting, and enterprise authentication technologies, with experience supporting secure and highly regulated environments. This position requires a proactive technical professional capable of managing complex infrastructure initiatives, troubleshooting critical system issues, and collaborating across technical teams to support operational and security objectives.
Job Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, maintain, and support enterprise Windows Server environments
- Manage and support Active Directory infrastructure, including Group Policy, authentication services, and directory services administration
- Support DNS management, certificate services, and identity/authentication platforms including ADFS
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate system administration and operational tasks
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot infrastructure issues, and implement corrective actions
- Perform system patching, upgrades, security hardening, backup, and recovery activities
- Support implementation and maintenance of STIG and security compliance standards
- Configure and manage physical and virtual server environments
- Analyze system logs and performance metrics to identify anomalies and improve system reliability
- Collaborate with engineering, security, operations, and program teams to support enterprise infrastructure initiatives
- Participate in infrastructure planning, system improvements, and process optimization efforts
- Support vendor coordination, documentation, and technical implementation activities as needed
- Contribute to operational continuity and cross-training initiatives within the infrastructure team
Job Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in Windows Systems Administration or Systems Engineering environments
- Advanced expertise with Windows Server administration and enterprise infrastructure support
- Strong experience with Active Directory, DNS, certificate management, and authentication services
- Experience supporting ADFS and enterprise identity management solutions
- Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience
- Experience supporting secure government or highly regulated enterprise environments preferred
- Knowledge of STIG implementation and security hardening best practices preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across enterprise infrastructure platforms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple technical priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance prior to start
- Experience supporting Department of Justice or federal government environments preferred
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field preferred
- Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements
Work Experience
- Experience supporting enterprise Windows infrastructure environments required
- Experience supporting government or Department of Justice environments preferred
- Experience with virtualization, enterprise authentication, and infrastructure security preferred
- Experience supporting infrastructure modernization and operational improvement initiatives preferred
- Experience working in remote enterprise support environments preferred
