The Vice President, Human Resources owns delivery. They convert enterprise people priorities into goals, roadmaps, KPIs, and accountability structures, and they own the results. They are a meaningful contributor to strategy through their proximity to the work, the data, and the workforce, and their primary role is to operationalize direction, drive execution discipline through their leaders, and hold the function accountable for outcomes that are felt by employees and visible to executive leadership.

The role's center of gravity is Organizational Development. The VP, HR is expected to scale a high-functioning OD and L&D capability -including the design, build-out, and execution of Herzing's Human + AI workforce development infrastructure.

The VP, HR provides direct leverage to the SVP, HR by owning execution, managing escalated and higher-risk matters, and building institutional capability and leadership readiness for the future of work - ensuring that strategic intent translates reliably into organizational reality and outcomes aligned to Herzing's mission and P.R.I.C.E. values.

REQUIREMENTS:



  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years in a senior or enterprise-level HR leadership role.

  • Demonstrated experience leading multiple HR functional areas simultaneously (OD/L&D, HR Services/Employee Relations, Compensation/Benefits, etc.) with clear accountability for execution and outcomes.
  • Proven track record translating HR strategy into operating plans, KPIs, and delivered results in employee engagement, retention, and organizational performance.
  • Direct experience standing up or significantly scaling an OD and L&D function - including building the team, operating model, program portfolio, and measurement framework.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, launch, and drive adoption of leadership development and learning programs at enterprise scale.
  • Strong command of people analytics, HR metrics, and data-driven decision-making; experience using HRIS platforms to generate insights and drive action.
  • Experience with UKG or similar enterprise HRIS/HCM platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to think progressively about the future of work, including workforce strategy in an AI-integrated environment; experience or strong fluency with AI tools, workforce automation, or human-AI teaming concepts - and the ability to translate that thinking into delivered programs.
  • Track record of leading HR teams through change and transformation with strong change management and execution discipline.
  • Knowledge of federal and multi-state employment law, regulatory compliance, and HR risk management.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and executive presence skills; ability to influence and partner at all levels of an organization.


Preferred



  • Master's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent).
  • Experience in higher education, healthcare, nonprofit, or similarly mission-driven, decentralized organizational environments.
  • Familiarity with shared governance structures and the unique culture of academic institutions.
  • Background in organizational design, workforce planning, or operating model transformation.
  • Direct experience designing and executing workforce strategies for AI-integrated environments, including human-AI teaming models, AI upskilling programs, or workforce readiness initiatives for emerging technology adoption.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, large language models, or intelligent automation platforms and how they are reshaping roles, workflows, and leadership practices in knowledge-work organizations.


Compensation is determined based on the qualifications, experience, and circumstances of each hire. It is uncommon for employees to start near the top of the salary range. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including a tuition waiver and reimbursement program, health insurance, paid time off, and a retirement savings plan. The salary range for this position is $138,550 to $187,450.

PHYSICAL and OTHER REQUIREMENTS:



  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Must be able to occasionally move around the work location.
  • Travel 10 - 15% across locations for meetings, visits or conferences.


    • Constantly operates office and/or teaching equipment which may include computers, copiers, fax machines, audio/visuals.
    • Frequently uses voice and hearing to communicate with students, staff or colleagues face-to-face or over the telephone.
    • Visually or otherwise identify, observe and assess.
    • Occasionally move, carry, or lift 10 pounds.
