Description: What you'll be doing

Another Source's client, UNC Charlotte, is recruiting a Benefits Manager to join their team in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is a hybrid opportunity.

Here's a little about UNC Charlotte: UNC Charlotte is a thriving, urban research university where approximately 30,000 students learn, live, and work, creating a dynamic, mission-driven environment that extends far beyond the classroom. Working here means being part of a vibrant campus community where no two days look the same. You'll support a diverse population of faculty, staff, and employees whose work directly impacts student success and the broader Charlotte community.

At UNC Charlotte, you're not just supporting benefits administration, you're contributing to an institution that fuels opportunity, mobility, and growth across the region.

About this role: This is a high-impact leadership role at the center of employee experience. As Benefits Manager, you will lead Leave of Absence (LOA) operations across the campus, ensuring compliance while also supporting employees through some of life's most critical moments.

This role goes beyond administration-it's about balancing policy with empathy. You'll guide complex cases, influence cross-functional collaboration, and help shape how the benefits team supports its workforce. With direct oversight of a small team of two, and close partnership with the Benefits Director, this position offers both strategic visibility and hands-on leadership in a highly collaborative campus environment.

  • Maintain and optimize the Kronos LOA module, ensuring accuracy and timely processing
  • Oversee benefits billing for employees on leave
  • Administer specialized programs including bereavement, community service leave, and employee/dependent death benefits
  • Monitor HR ticketing systems to ensure timely, high-quality responses

Training & Leadership (25%)

  • Partner with the Benefits Director on strategic initiatives, policy development, and process improvements
  • Deliver trainings and presentations to employees and managers on benefits programs
  • Serve as backup to the Benefits Director when needed
  • Provide thoughtful, solutions-oriented guidance on complex and sensitive benefit scenarios

Compliance & Reporting (10%)

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations, including FMLA and HIPAA
  • Manage required reporting such as bereavement, parental leave, and leave attestation programs

Supervision (10%)

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of two Benefits Consultants
  • Set goals, monitor performance, and foster a collaborative, positive team environment

Additional Projects (5%)

  • Contribute to broader HR and benefits-related initiatives

Experience You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits administration, including leave of absence and compliance
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state leave laws (e.g., FMLA)
  • Experience interpreting policies and managing sensitive employee situations with discretion
  • Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, data analysis)
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment with multiple stakeholders

What's in it for you:

  • Salary Range: $75,321 - $80,000
  • Comprehensive benefits package designed to support your health, financial well-being, and work-life balance
  • Access to a vibrant campus environment with opportunities to engage in university life, events, and community
