Position Summary
The Hospital Financial Reporting Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day financial reporting operations and supporting senior leadership with reporting, and special projects. This role oversees the preparation of financial statements, budget performance reporting, and variance analysis, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data across hospital systems. The position also supports grant and sponsored program financial management, compliance reporting, and system/process improvements to enhance financial operations.
The ideal candidate brings strong research administration knowledge, a customer service mindset working with sponsors and the research community, and a high level of attention to detail . This role requires structured thinking and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to take full ownership end-to-end and follow through consistently. The successful candidate is a deep analytical thinker who can dig into issues rather than delegate prematurely, while maintaining a highly collaborative approach across departments and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage grant and sponsored funding processes, including budget development, salary allocation tracking, and reimbursement processing
  • Serve as liaison with principal investigators, funding agencies, and internal grant administration teams to support compliance and reporting requirements
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation, financial disclosures, and regulatory filings including federal and state reporting requirements
  • Participate in departmental policy development and administrative planning to improve financial operations and controls
  • Serve as a financial resource across the institution to support operational efficiency and decision-making
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and budget performance reports, including variance analysis and explanations of key trends
  • Conduct financial analyses including long-range projections, cash flow forecasting, and return on investment evaluations
  • Maintain and oversee financial data systems, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of administrative and financial information
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to financial systems, databases, and chart of accounts structure
  • Review and approve check requisitions, ensuring proper coding, documentation, and compliance with financial policies
  • Support contract management and billing systems for sponsored programs and external agreements
  • Participate in departmental policy development and administrative planning to improve financial operations and controls
  • Serve as a financial resource across the institution to support operational efficiency and decision-making

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree required

Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare finance, financial reporting, grant administration, or related financial operations

Schedule:
Full-time- remote.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
