The Design Supervisor leads and oversees a team of SBU CAD Designers responsible for developing highquality automotive components and assemblies. This role ensures design deliverables meet technical requirements, timing milestones, cost targets, and organizational standards while supporting crossfunctional collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and program teams. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Team Leadership & People Management - Supervise, mentor, and support a team of designers, providing daily direction, workload prioritization, and technical guidance.
- Design Oversight & Technical Responsibility - Oversee the development of automotive components, assemblies, and detail drawings using CAD tools such as Siemens NX and Teamcenter ensuring designs meet functional requirements, engineering intent, manufacturability, serviceability, and quality standards.
- Project & Program Coordination - Serve as the design pointofcontact for assigned programs and concepts, and support standardized proposal development, scope definition, and early concept feasibility when requested.
- Process, Standards & Continuous Improvement - Enforce design standards, best practices, and release processes as defined by engineering and design management to support consistency across designs and identify opportunities to improve design workflows, communication, and efficiency.
- Administrative & Communication Duties - Provide clear, professional communication to internal stakeholders and leadership and support documentation required for HR, accommodations, safety, or compliance processes when needed.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 8 years experience in lead design.
- Extensive experience in automotive CAD design and product development.
- Proficiency with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and related visualization/mockup tools.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, assemblies, and vehicle systems.
- Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced, programdriven environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory or teamlead experience.
- Experience supporting advanced or concept stage vehicle programs.
- Familiarity with cost, timing, and scope estimation for design work.
