Quality Supervisor

The Quality Support Specialist is responsible for overseeing day-to-day manufacturing quality operations within assembly and/or machining environments. This role supports all production shifts by ensuring compliance with quality control systems, process standards, audits, testing requirements, and containment activities.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong manufacturing and leadership experience who can quickly respond to emerging quality concerns, protect the customer from defects, and collaborate across engineering, production, and quality teams to drive continuous improvement.

This position requires strong communication skills, technical expertise, and the ability to lead in a fast-paced union manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Quality Support



  • Serve as the first responder to production floor quality concerns
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and control plans
  • Investigate quality issues, collect critical information, and assess customer impact
  • Develop and implement containment strategies to prevent defects from reaching customers
  • Coordinate quarantine, inspection, testing, repair, and release activities for nonconforming material
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Resident Engineering teams
  • Approve or request process deviations as required
  • Ensure proper execution of cleanliness checks, EMP validations, and process conformance standards
  • Support release of engines/components through plant control systems


Audits & Compliance



  • Support and lead where required quality audits including torque, functional, dock, and process audits
  • Ensure adherence to corporate quality standards and manufacturing procedures
  • Review and approve SWIs and SOPs within plant systems
  • Maintain accurate records for quarantines, repairs, certifications, and corrective actions
  • Document campaigns and offline repairs within RCA, UPS and Sharepoint systems


Leadership & Supervision



  • Supervise skilled trades personnel in Gauge and Dyno testing areas
  • Manage daily operations, work assignments, attendance, and payroll accuracy
  • Support disciplinary processes and maintain understanding of UAW labor agreements
  • Attend production meetings and provide effective shift-to-shift communication


Continuous Improvement



  • Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities
  • Implement preventive quality measures and short-term countermeasures
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturing quality and operational performance


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Science, Business, Mathematics, or related field
  • Experience in manufacturing, assembly, testing, or machining environments
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
  • Understanding of GD&T, control plans, process sheets, and blueprint interpretation
  • Experience with error-proofing and mistake-proofing systems
  • Experience supervising hourly employees in a UAW environment preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred
  • Ability to work afternoon or midnight shifts as required
  • Ability to work overtime to support production schedules
  • Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or related field
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • Powertrain manufacturing or assembly experience
  • Process Sign-Off experience
  • Dimensional Layout and GD&T expertise
  • SAP knowledge and purchasing systems experience
  • Knowledge of tool making, welding, machine repair, or Dyno testing
  • Experience with quality systems and automotive manufacturing standards
