About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

We are seeking a proven "legal athlete"-a versatile attorney hungry to stretch their capabilities in a fast-paced environment. As Counsel, Product and Commercial, you will step into a high-impact role critical to scaling Rivian's commercial footprint and cementing our reputation as a leader in electric vehicles, AI, autonomy, and software-defined vehicles (SDVs). You will operate at the intersection of cutting-edge engineering and complex commercial ecosystems, tackling first-of-their-kind legal challenges. As a strategic partner to both the business and our legal leadership, your core focus will include:

  • Scaling Next-Gen Products: Providing mission-critical counsel for the launch and global scaling of products and services in our consumer ecosystem.
  • Driving Strategic Mobility Initiatives: Supporting high-stakes, complex transactions that advance our AI and autonomy investments, SDV monetization, and global collaborations-including long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Architecting Commercial Frameworks: Contribute to and leverage foundational legal structures for e-commerce, hardware/software licensing, cloud/data transactions, and automotive partnerships to allow Rivian to move fast and disrupt the status quo.

If you thrive on steep learning curves, want a front-row seat to the future of mobility, and possess the grit to translate massive strategic initiatives into sound legal strategy, this role will redefine your career.
