This role is part of our Cubic Transportation Project Control team and partners with the global team on revenue, earned value, cost and change management for complex, large-scale projects in a dynamic environment; strategizing with other business functions to increase inter-department efficiency. This role functions as a skilled specialist who applies considerable judgment and initiative to financial assignments. It addresses tasks that require an in-depth understanding of finance processes and the ability to recommend solutions. This position interprets and analyzes complex financial data to support organizational objectives. It also works with cross-functional groups to optimize workflows, ensures compliance and is responsible for managing a team. This function is responsible for ensure accuracy and completeness of the financials related to treasury (cash), financial planning and analysis (reporting), financial management (revenue & cost), and supporting regulatory reporting.

The Project Control Manager functions as a skilled specialist who applies considerable judgment and initiative to financial assignments. It addresses tasks that require an in-depth understanding of finance processes and the ability to recommend solutions. This position interprets and analyzes complex financial data to support organizational objectives. It also works with cross-functional groups to optimize workflows and ensure compliance with regulations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Establish mitigation strategies to facilitate timely corrective actions, operational objectives, proactive analysis, and preserve company financial goals for the various project control teams in the region.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for other departments and the global Project Control team; ensuring timely and clear communication regarding project status, risks, and changes.
  • Create and maintain policies, processes and tools to manage project costs, schedules, and risks supporting compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Able to concisely identify, summarize and extract key issues from complex contractual arrangements for revenue value and timing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; this role will present project financials for operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, culturally aware with a willingness to share knowledge, coach and collaborate effectively with individuals and other departments.
  • Leads and develops the regional project control team to ensure effective financial presentations, variance analyses, and project controls to all levels of the business.
  • Delegates assignments, reviews staff work product for quality, accuracy, and utility to assure quality and alignment with company policies, GAAP and ASC revenue recognition.
  • Reviews and owns the budget and forecast the project control team produces, including revenue and cash flows for all projects in the region.
  • Understands and works on sensitive complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors and provides solutions to issues in creative and effective ways.
  • SAP and other system tools are used for budgeting, forecasting, and project management.
  • Monitor and analyze budget performance, recommending corrective actions as needed.
  • Refine internal control processes to align financial operations with organizational goals.
  • Identify potential risks or opportunities in financial plans, communicating them to decision-makers.
  • Supports critical operation teams including monitoring and analyzing project costs, identifying variances, and working with the team to address them.
  • Participate in solving problems, monitoring risk mitigation strategies and execution of risk management processes with the project operations team.
  • Coordinate payment and collection processes, resolving non-standard issues as they arise.
  • Maintain relationships with major vendors or clients, addressing billing discrepancies effectively.
  • Ensure information integrity for project status, contract values and estimates to completion as represented by project/contract managers.
  • Supports the development and review of detailed integrated schedules in close collaboration with the technical leads and project managers.
  • Comfortable collaborating across departments to define and improve operational strategies for multiple companies in the region.
  • Monitors and analyzes Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to ensure both activities are timely and correct.
  • Prepares financial analysis and reports for internal stakeholders and management review meetings.
  • Collaborate with audit teams by providing detailed financial documentation and guidance.
  • Implement follow-up actions for audit findings, ensuring timely resolution of noted issues.

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Four-year college degree, preferably in finance or accounting. Typically requires a minimum of 4-6 years of related experience managing teams in cost accounting, financial analytics, or financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for maturing a team to identifying process improvements and managing more complex tasks.
  • Thorough understanding financial regulations and industry practices (ASC606).
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and advise on best practices.
  • Effective communication for engaging stakeholders across different levels.
  • Financial system experience; SAP, Business Intelligence, Tableau are preferred.
  • Strong personal computer skills and MS Office or equivalent programs is required.
  • Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to prioritize, complete multiple tasks, and work under deadlines.
  • Able to concentrate, focus, and perform complex financial analyses.
  • Adept analytic and numeric skills are required.

Cubic Pay Range:

$125,000.00 - $140,000.00 + benefits.

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
