This Protective & Marine Technician supports the Transportation and Infrastructure Teams in a variety of activities related to product maintenance, quality investigations and new product development. This person will perform a variety of technical tasks on commercial and experimental products. Responsibilities may include batch making, application and testing of paint samples, basic calculations, and maintaining records of measured data and observations.

Job duties include contact with other employees and access confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. The Company therefore has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and is necessary to protect the safety of the Company's staff, employees, and business relationships.

This role will be located at Sherwin-Williams Morikis Global Technology Center located at 1 Innovation Parkway, Brecksville, OH 44141.


  • Contributes to the execution and design of experiments.
  • Completes required tasks and documentation for group's calibration requirements and panel exposure program.
  • Comply with standardized test methods.
  • Documents all formulation processes.
  • Functions with sustained supervision, but can independently perform basic tasks with progress and results infrequently checked.
  • Writes simple reports, outlining procedures used and the results obtained.
  • Attend quality, safety and technical meetings and seminars as necessary.
  • Comply with all safety and housekeeping requirements.
  • Communicates to internal and some external customers.
  • Possesses basic ability to analyze data, draws conclusions and makes recommendations.
  • Proficient in operating moderately complex equipment.
  • Use computing tools to capture and record data.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
  • High School Degree or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • At least 6 months of lab experience.
  • Experience with industrial solventborne coatings such as epoxy, urethane, alkyd and/or polysiloxane.
  • Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis.
  • Math knowledge.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1-3 Years of coatings industry experience.
  • Industrial coatings application experience.
  • Proficient in statistics and data analysis.

Travel Requirements: 5% Domestic
