Manager, Materials Planning
Precision Fusing and Sensors is actively hiring for a Materials Planning Manager in Middletown, CT. This role is responsible for the overall management and coordination of Materials Management Operations, including forecasting, master scheduling, production planning, inventory management, warehousing and customer delivery support. The Materials Planning Manager has direct involvement and influence with Manufacturing Engineering, Logistics Support, Program Management, Procurement, Finance, Contracts Administration and Production departments to achieve scheduled deliveries.
Responsibilities
- Conceive, develop and implement master plans that contain milestones for key activities and an outline of management's approach for accomplishing objectives.
- Coordinate/integrate detail plans of functional departments that support the master plan and meet contractual objectives.
- Monitor plans to ensure milestones are achieved.
- Determine cause, impact and recommend/implement corrective action for slippages or other problems.
- Work with Manufacturing/Procurement to optimize operations and supply chain strategies, which will collapse the critical path of products and, therefore, reduce inventory and leadtime.
- Produce Material Resources Planning (MRP) schedules and output tools to ensure proper deliveries and inventory levels.
- Manage and direct, through planners, the incorporation of engineering changes that affect ordering and scheduling. Ensure all changes are documented properly.
- Resolve material, capacity and resource constraints that hinder execution of the production plan.
- Reduce lead times/cycle times and increase inventory turns.
- Adjust planning parameters continuously to support cellular manufacturing processes.
- Work with appropriate departments to establish an infrastructure and discipline, which will enable the current software to be utilized.
- Determine and document business systems shortfalls and where possible investigate and implement solutions.
- Create a set of metrics that measure the business improvement to all established goals.
- Work as part of a team which institutes cellular (takt) manufacturing.
- Create shortage management system that is proactive in identifying delivery issues and alert management of any contractual obligations which may be jeopardized.
- If applicable develop forecasting mechanisms to optimize market vs. supplier lead-times
- Analyze performance to ensure identification of trends, determine problems, corrective or mitigating action plans and estimate completion dates.
- Manage inventory, stockrooms, shipping, receiving departments.
- Develop an efficient organization structure that is responsive to program requirements and changes.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with internal/external customers to facilitate problem identification and resolution.
- Occasional domestic travel on company business is required as needed.
- Manage employees under supervision. Delegate work assignments, provide effective coaching and technical guidance of directs, and communicate with all levels of management, customers and subcontractors. Select, train, retain, appraise and reward department personnel. Participate in and support the communication of company philosophy and information throughout the organization.
- Champion total quality and lean initiatives.
- Plan and manage budgets and identify capital needs for effective operations.
- Develop department goals and objectives that align with those of the division.
- Establish and maintain effective internal/external communication to facilitate problem identification and resolution.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree required, Bachelors Degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations and supply chain/materials required, 3+ years in supervisory or team leadership.
- Basic knowledge of computers and associated software such as word processing and spreadsheet applications as required.
- Hands-on experience with MRP/ERP systems
- Experience supporting production planning, materials/inventory management, materials procurement
