Job Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Internal Patient Transport Dept. Assesses all transport requests and daily volume demands for transport services and schedules and make daily assignments accordingly. Maintains adequate staffing coverage in all areas of responsibility. Responsible for monitoring and evaluating the activities and performance of the IPT Coordinators/Dispatchers, Lead Transporters, and Transporters Associates, HUB IPT Leadership and volunteers/AARP. Responsible for all staff scheduling, orientation, training, and discipline Develops and maintains liaisons with other departments in the hospital to coordinate patient transportation and information desk related services.

  • An Associate Degree and/or one to two years of college
  • Bachelor Degree in related field preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting or related service organization.
  • Previous experience with preparing work schedules and performance evaluations.
  • Working knowledge of patient tracking/transport and HOS systems preferred.
  • Previous dispatch an/or transport experience preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated experience supervising multiple employees.
  • Must have excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge and demonstrated ability with computer technology.
  • Must have the ability to lead, organize and motivate a diverse group of people.
  • Must have the ability to multitask and an attention to details.
  • Must have a general knowledge of patient transport and its function in a hospital setting.
  • Must have the ability to be physically capable of constant walking and lifting, pushing and/or pulling as deemed necessary.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills. All departmental related instruction and training as it relates to patient transport, Joint Commission, OSHA/Universal precautions, CPR, etc. will be provided accordingly.
