As a Health Care Surveyor with the Department of Health, you will play an important part in ensuring that intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities and persons with other related conditions, psychiatric residential treatment facilities, and community mental health centers for Medicaid or Medicare certification meet required standards. This position gives you the chance to use strong analytical and communication skills in real world settings. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position ensures health care facilities follow federal regulations by conducting surveys, reviews, and evaluations. It involves planning, performing, and documenting survey activities that help protect the public and support quality care. You may be assigned to function independently, with a partner, as a member of a team, or as the designated team coordinator during on-site surveys. Travel will be required within the counties of Berks, Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia. Additionally, you may be required to travel to other counties based on operational needs. As a Health Care Surveyor, you will perform the following duties:
- Survey Activities: Conduct surveys for certification, licensure, complaints, incidents, and special investigations using federal and state regulations
- Survey Planning: Prepare for survey activities by reviewing facility information, forms, data, and documentation
- Report Writing: Write survey findings and statements of deficiencies using required documentation standards
- Regulation Application: Apply relevant regulations and guidelines when gathering evidence and determining compliance
- Follow Up Work: Review plans of correction and complete revisit activities to ensure issues are resolved
- Team Participation: Serve as an independent surveyor, team member, or team leader and assist in training new surveyors

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- You will be required to carry and respond to a cellular phone and respond to complaints during off-duty hours as assigned. Statewide travel may be required which may include overnight stays.
- Home Headquartered: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in audiology, communication sciences and disorders (CSD), cognitive disabilities, gerontology, health administration, nutrition, dietetics, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, psychology, public health, recreational therapies, respiratory therapy, speech-language pathology, social work, nursing home administration, or vocational rehabilitation; and one year of related professional experience; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of related professional experience.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires successful completion of the relevant provider-specific federally mandated training provided by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services within one year of hire.
- You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.
