THE POSITION

Become a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Health WIC Program and take on meaningful work that supports community health. You will help keep essential information moving to the right people at the right time. Your efforts will make a real difference in keeping Bureau activities on track.



DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the Bureau of WIC by handling a wide range of office and administrative responsibilities that keep daily operations functioning well. You will use strong judgment, organization, and communication skills to support staff, manage information, and guide tasks from start to finish. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Training: Provide guidance to new team members as they learn administrative procedures
  • Document Review: Evaluate communications and forms to ensure accuracy and proper routing
  • Priority Setting: Determine the order of work tasks and decide when issues need to be escalated
  • Communication Handling: Assess incoming messages and distribute them based on urgency and content
  • Record Tracking: Maintain logs and tracking systems to support audit readiness and timely follow up
  • Data Preparation: Compile information for reports and organize materials for program use

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
