DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position performs preventive maintenance and repair work on a wide variety of vehicles, construction equipment, and powered tools to support Clearfield County maintenance operations. Through your work, you will help to ensure safe, dependable equipment for crews working across the county. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:
- Vehicle Repair: Perform maintenance and repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, and construction equipment
- System Maintenance: Repair and adjust engine, cooling, suspension, electrical, and driveline systems
- Inspection Work: Complete state safety and emissions inspections and document all findings accurately
- Diesel Service: Conduct routine service on diesel equipment and replace parts such as gaskets, pumps, and filters
- Equipment Care: Carry out field adjustments, minor repairs, and preventive maintenance to keep equipment operating safely
- Emergency Support: Provide road service and perform repairs in field environments when needed
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work hours subject to change due to seasonal requirements or operational needs.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $48,841.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
- Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
- This position requires possession of a valid Class 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate or equivalent that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
