THE POSITION

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Southeastern Veterans Center is seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker who enjoys helping others in a meaningful way. This role brings energy to the daily care in our long-term care facility serving our veterans and their spouses by supporting meal preparation and service. Every shift brings a chance to brighten someone's day while building valuable experience in a supportive team environment.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports daily meal preparation, food service, and sanitation to ensure residents receive safe and nutritious meals. As a Food Service Worker, you will perform the following duties:

  • Food Preparation: Prepare, plate, and portion food and beverages for meals and nourishments
  • Tray Assembly: Set up carts, read diet codes, and assemble accurate resident trays
  • Serving Support: Deliver trays, stock items, and assist with serving operations
  • Sanitation Tasks: Clean dishes, equipment, dining rooms, and food preparation areas
  • Record Keeping: Record temperatures, inventory usage, and meal counts as required
  • Safety Compliance: Use required protective equipment and follow all safety procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 8 hours per day, 80 hours biweekly.
  • Work hours are 2nd shift (11:30 AM to 8:00 PM), rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Previous food service worker experience

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
