Food Service Worker 1

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Southeastern Veterans Center is seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker who enjoys helping others in a meaningful way. This role brings energy to the daily care in our long-term care facility serving our veterans and their spouses by supporting meal preparation and service. This position supports daily meal preparation, food service, and sanitation to ensure residents receive safe and nutritious meals. As a Food Service Worker, you will perform the following duties:

• Food Preparation: Prepare, plate, and portion food and beverages for meals and nourishments
• Tray Assembly: Set up carts, read diet codes, and assemble accurate resident trays
• Serving Support: Deliver trays, stock items, and assist with serving operations
• Sanitation Tasks: Clean dishes, equipment, dining rooms, and food preparation areas
• Record Keeping: Record temperatures, inventory usage, and meal counts as required
• Safety Compliance: Use required protective equipment and follow all safety procedures

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 8 hours per day, 80 hours biweekly.
• Work hours are 2nd shift (11:30 AM to 8:00 PM), rotating days and weekends, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Legal Requirements:

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
