The PRCC is one of four cultural centers under the umbrella of the Cultural Center Collaborative in the Division of Student Affairs. The four centers, which also includes the Asian American Cultural Center, the Center for Latino Arts & Culture, and the Center for Social Justice Education & LGBT Communities, work in partnership to support the needs of historically underrepresented and marginalized communities by creating welcoming and holistic learning environments inclusive of all identities and allies.

The vision of the PRCC is to develop a community where all students, especially students of the African diaspora, participate in guided educational discourse, leadership development, and out of the classroom engagement that cultivates meaningful experiences, fosters positive relationships, and facilitates inclusive spaces where individuals can be their authentic-self.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking an Administrative Coordinator for the Paul Robseon Cultural Center ( PRCC).
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Manages and oversees all administrative functions and provides support to programmatic elements of the PRCC.
  • Oversees the day-to-day operations of these offices.
  • Provides support to 3 other professional staff members, and directly supervises work study student employees.
  • Supports the logistics and implementation of a variety of programs and events such as Black Welcome Week, Black History Month, and student leadership development programs.
  • Performs complex professional, administrative, and operational tasks.
  • Handles oversight of space reservations; processing contracts, invoices, and purchasing requisition, and hiring and payroll management for student employees.
  • Arranges and coordinates the logistics for events and meetings, serving as the unit representative when working with the various venues, vendors, departments, and professional services.
  • Participates as a full member of the unit in developing, administering, and evaluating the office's overall operation and programming.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of student affairs and programming in a higher education setting plus a minimum of two years experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent written and oral communication with attention to detail, as well as strong organizational and time management and event coordination skills
  • Must possess strong customer service, and problem solving skills and ability to communicate effectively with new students, parents/families, faculty/staff and student leaders/employees
  • Demonstrated ability to possess a calm demeanor when communicating with different constituencies and diverse audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adhere to deadlines
  • Cultural competency to work within cultural settings on a range of academic, student life, admissions, financial aid, counseling, health, disability and safety issues at a large, multi-faceted research university.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and virtual platforms such as Zoom
  • Ability to work both independently and as a constructive, collaborate member of the Cultural Center Collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of purchasing (SciQuest), contract preparation and bid processes. Knowledge of managing timesheets and payroll.
Equipment Utilized
  • PC, Apple and Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs/Forms, MailChimp.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • May be required to travel to other campus locations and offices and lift boxes related to promotional items, as needed.
  • This position may be required to work flexible work hours and/or overtime during peak operational periods including late August - September, and late April - early May to support departmental operations.

Special Conditions

  • Available to work nights and weekends on occasion with schedules adjusted accordingly.
