We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Accounting Manager to lead critical accounting operations within a dynamic insurance environment. In this role, you will oversee core accounting functions, manage the monthly and quarterly close process, support statutory financial reporting, and partner cross-functionally to ensure financial accuracy and compliance. You'll also play a key leadership role, mentoring a team and driving operational improvements across the finance organization. What You'll Do * Lead day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. * Manage monthly and quarterly close activities and oversee financial reconciliations. * Convert cash-basis financial records to statutory accounting basis for external reporting and regulatory filings. * Compile and analyze financial data to record non-cash transactions and support quarterly and annual statements. * Review and resolve accounting issues related to third-party administrators (TPAs). * Oversee bank reconciliations, deposits, and unclaimed property reporting. * Reconcile federal and state tax withholdings and support accurate reporting. * Partner with leadership, auditors, and regulatory agencies to support audits and examinations. * Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual NAIC statutory financial statements. * Collaborate with teams across actuarial, operations, and IT to resolve accounting and reporting issues. * Provide analytical support and respond to ad hoc business requests from senior leadership. Leadership Responsibilities * Supervise and mentor a team of four accounting professionals. * Manage workloads and ensure timely completion of deliverables. * Provide coaching, development, and performance feedback to team members. * Foster a collaborative, accountable, and solutions-oriented environment. What We're Looking For Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. * 8+ years of progressive accounting experience. * 4+ years of insurance industry experience. * 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience. * Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP, and complex formulas. Preferred Qualifications * CPA designation or active CPA candidate. * Knowledge of NAIC Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP/SSAP). * Experience with Sage or similar general ledger systems. * Familiarity with statutory reporting software.
