POSITION SPECIFICS

The GeoGraphics Labin the Department of Geographyat The Pennsylvania State University is recruiting a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scholar to conduct research for an NIH-NSF funded project on human health, movement, and infectious diseases. This project is led by PI Dr. Nita Bharti, Director of the Human Infectious Disease Labin the Department of Biologyand the Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics, and will be supervised by grant Co-PI Dr. Anthony Robinsonin Geography.

This position is located on campus full-time at University Park, PA. It is not available for remote work.

Successful applicants will have experience in:

  • Development of Geovisualization tools

  • Spatial analysis using GIS

  • Human-Computer Interaction techniques to design and evaluate new mapping systems

  • Cartographic design

  • Data analysis

  • Research Communication (written and verbal)

You do not need to have mastered each of these areas, but rather we expect you to have some base knowledge upon which you can build expertise in most of them. The position will provide ample opportunities to up-skill in each of these areas.

Required Education and Experience

The position requires a completed PhD degree in Geography, Data Visualization, Epidemiology, Ecology, or a related field.

Creative, interdisciplinary thinkers interested in mapping the dynamics of human health and infectious diseases research are encouraged to apply.
