Accounting Manager

Salary Range: $80,000 - $110,000

Reports To: Controller / CFO

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and process-driven Accounting Manager to join our growing organization. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, anticipates operational and accounting needs before they arise, and enjoys building scalable accounting processes that support rapid company growth.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in both Job Costing and General Ledger accounting and can clearly demonstrate how they have improved accounting processes, increased efficiency, strengthened controls, and supported better financial visibility in prior roles.

This is not a "maintain the status quo" accounting role - we are looking for a proactive problem solver who continuously identifies opportunities for improvement and can adapt as the business evolves.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger activities, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Oversee and improve job costing processes to ensure accurate project profitability tracking and cost allocation
  • Analyze existing accounting workflows and implement process improvements that increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability
  • Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures that support a rapidly growing organization
  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, project managers, and leadership to improve financial visibility and decision-making
  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
  • Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and provide analytical insight to leadership
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies
  • Help evaluate and implement accounting systems, reporting tools, and automation opportunities as the company scales
  • Mentor and support accounting staff as the department grows

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
  • Strong experience with:

    • Job Costing
    • General Ledger accounting
    • Financial analysis
    • Process improvement initiatives

  • Experience working in high-growth or rapidly changing environments strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and implement scalable accounting solutions
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to anticipate business needs and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting/ERP systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, project-based, or multi-entity environments is a plus
  • Experience with ERP implementations or accounting automation tools is highly desirable

Interview Focus

We are especially interested in candidates who can provide specific examples of:

  • How they improved accounting or job costing processes
  • Ways they increased efficiency or reduced errors
  • How they built or adapted systems during periods of company growth
  • Situations where they proactively solved problems before they became larger issues

Why Join Us?

  • Opportunity to help shape and scale the accounting function within a growing company
  • Collaborative leadership team with strong growth trajectory
  • High-impact role with visibility across the organization
  • Competitive compensation and growth opportunities
