Job Description

3rd Shift NDT Technician - X-Ray Operator

Position Title: X-Ray Operator Level I
Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Shift: 3rd Shift, 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM
Location: Mentor, OH
Reports To: Department 690 Supervisor

Education

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous casting or aerospace manufacturing experience is a plus.
Primary Responsibilities

Inspect and test parts for defects and deviations from specifications using radiographic (X-ray) inspection methods, precision measuring instruments, and testing equipment.

Essential Duties
  • Perform system capability checks and equipment setup as required.
  • Process parts in accordance with applicable specifications and procedures.
  • Utilize manuals, source materials, and reference documents to support inspection activities.
  • Handle hazardous materials and waste in compliance with company policies and MSDS requirements.
  • Maintain efficiency, quality, and productivity standards.
  • Move and manage X-ray inventory as needed.
  • Stock new film and prepare exposed film for storage and retention.
  • Accurately record daily work performed and allocate time using appropriate operational codes.
  • Follow routing cards and production schedules in the prescribed sequence.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Support a positive work environment through effective communication and teamwork.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor or Level III personnel.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with demanding deadlines.
  • Ability to handle the stress associated with high-volume production schedules.
  • Must pass a visual acuity examination.
  • Willingness to devote personal study time toward successfully obtaining Level I certification.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position safely and effectively.
