Job Summary TheFieldLeader - Construction provides leadership to employees and/or contractors responsible for the field execution of gas distribution capital projects. This work includes new main line extensions, replacement of aging gas mains and services, and relocation of various facilities. Field Leaders typically oversee teams and workloads across a broad geographic territory and are accountable for ensuring the safe, reliable delivery of natural gas to communities and large customers. They serve as role models for safe work practices, maintain a strong and visible field presence, and ensure all work is performed in accordance with company standards and procedures. This role also includes active responsibility for employee development and training to improve both individual and team performance. Field Leaders may be required to be on call and support operational activities and natural gas emergencies after hours or on weekends. Work schedules may vary based on construction plans and operational needs.
Essential Functions
- Demonstrate Safety Leadership by promoting and ensuring a safe working environment while supporting continuous improvement in natural gas public safety.
- Provide leadership, direction, and performance coaching to the front-line workforce; facilitate effective two-way communication between field employees and the broader organization.
- Maintain a consistent field presence by visiting work sites, providing direction and feedback, conducting job observations, and mitigating at-risk findings.
- Actively manage the development, training, and evaluation of front-line workers to improve individual and team performance.
- Manage and enforce the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (where applicable).
- Promote Operational Excellence by motivating, coaching, and developing staff to meet established objectives.
- Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement, ensuring front-line workers are actively engaged in both mindset and execution.
- Optimize resource utilization by supporting the development of work plans and driving execution of team objectives.
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to effectively coordinate work efforts.
- Ensure effective use of tools and technology to support daily work execution.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Cultivate and advance a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Model leadership behaviors aligned with organizational values, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and credibility.
- Troubleshoot process systems and equipment when failures or inefficiencies occur.
- Respond to emergencies in accordance with company procedures and the Incident Command System (ICS) structure.
Required Qualifications For Position
- Demonstrated ability to quickly assess situations and make sound decisions, particularly in emergency environments.
- Strong knowledge of job-related safety standards and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Ability to influence and motivate stakeholders with competing priorities to achieve common goals.
- Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
- Proven ability to coach, develop, and elevate employee performance.
- Demonstrated proficiency with technology and tools used in daily operations.
- Ability to understand and apply technical concepts related to systems, processes, and equipment.
- Willingness to work additional hours beyond 40 per week and travel (including overnight) as needed to meet role expectations.
- Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- 4-6 years of gas construction experience or equivalent (e.g., gas distribution or transmission operations, gas engineering, project management).
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Relevant certifications such as:
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Professional Engineer (PE)

Salary Range*: $96,600.00 - $144,900.00
*The salary offered to a candidate is based on several factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills, job-related knowledge, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity. Posting Start Date: 2026-06-26
