*Overview* This telecommunications company specializes in four major areas:
* LMR (Land Mobile Radio) * IBS/IDAS (In-Building Systems / Distributed Antenna Systems) * ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) * Physical Security The team supports a wide range of in-building wireless projects across federal, state, and local government environments, as well as education, transportation, stadiums/venues, and healthcare facilities. Work includes construction, installation, and maintenance of in-building wireless access points and DAS infrastructure. This role primarily supports projects in Tennessee, with occasional travel to Richmond, VA as needed. *Scope of Work* Technicians will support: * DAS and low-voltage installations * Public safety systems * Fiber and coax installation * ODAS/IDAS systems * New construction and existing campus environments Most work is concentrated on a major university campus in Tennessee, with additional statewide coverage. Occasional travel to Richmond, VA is required. *Travel Requirements* * Up to 50% travel in peak situations * Overnight travel to Richmond for up to 4 nights at a time * Travel via company vehicle * Hotel accommodations provided * $65/day per diem for overnight travel *Schedule* * Full-time, 40 hours per week * Monday-Friday (typically 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) * Overtime opportunities available *Responsibilities* * Lead or assist a small team (technician + helper, depending on experience level) * Install, test, and troubleshoot coax and fiber systems * Perform rack and stack work; cable dressing and labeling * Complete low-voltage cabling installations * Read and interpret blueprints and schematics * Provide job documentation, photos, and updates to project leadership * Work with 1/2" coax and equipment from major manufacturers * Support testing using tools such as OTDR and similar equipment *Required Experience* * 1-3 years of experience in DAS, low-voltage, wireless, or telecommunications installation * Foundational experience with coax installation * Basic to intermediate experience working with fiber (pulling, terminating, and/or testing; splicing is a plus) * Familiarity with structured cabling or ISP/network construction environments * Exposure to testing tools such as OTDR, Fluke, or similar equipment * Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with a willingness to take on more responsibility over time *Additional Skills & Qualifications* * Reliable with a strong work ethic * Effective communication skills * Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail * Comfortable working in customer-facing environments * Eagerness to learn and grow within the telecommunications field *Work Environment* * Commercial, hospital, government, and public safety environments * Frequent ladder work and hands-on installation * Work across the state, with a primary focus in Tennessee * Overnight travel required for select projects *Job Type & Location*This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Knoxville, TN. *Pay and Benefits*The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
