Summary

The Component Rebuild Center (CRC) Manager directs all CRC shop operations, budgets, and physical facilities. This leadership position balances day-to-day management with long-term strategic direction. The core focus is driving department performance across safety, profitability, quality, and both employee and customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions

  • The CRC Manager (Component Shop) directs the service department to ensure an efficient and profitable operation to support branch and corporate objectives, and by maintaining the highest quality of service to the customer.
  • Oversees Technicians working on engines, transmissions, torque converters and lower powertrain components.
  • Interdepartmental communication.
  • Communicate with Caterpillar Technical Representatives as necessary.
  • Monitor and manage annual budgets and objectives.
  • Daily work order management.
  • Ensure quality repair work and superior customer satisfaction.
  • Timely resolution of customer complaints and disputes.
  • Administer service policy and warranty according to Caterpillar guidelines.
  • Supervise and evaluate service employees and staff work performance.
  • Ensure all safety programs, internal audit standards, organizational processes, company policies, etc., are adhered to.
  • Accountable for the actions of department employees and is responsible for overall employee wellbeing and attitude.
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the physical service facility/buildings
  • Facilitate SQDC Meetings and update all materials as needed, conduct problem solving activities and implement countermeasures.
  • Other duties as assigned

Leadership

  • Create safe, positive work environment for employees.
  • Ability to lead and supervise employees/teams to identify and execute on a set of goals while maintaining team cohesion
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
  • where only limited standardization exists.
  • Perform mid-year and annual performance evaluation reviews for employees that are assigned to them.
  • Provide leadership and expertise for continuous improvement of key functions to best in the areas of efficiency, quality, profitability and responsiveness. Understands and effectively employs change management, lean and similar process improvement tools and techniques in daily work and coach same within area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Four-year BA/BS degree preferably in business management with 6 years similar experience with at least 2 years management or supervisor experience.
  • Two-year technical school graduate with approximately 8 years similar experience with at least three as a Group Leader.
  • High school graduate with approximately 10 years mechanical experience with at least four as a Group Leader.
  • Candidates with hands-on experience are strongly preferred as assisting technicians with technical issues is a requirement.
  • This position requires a self-directed, personable, service-oriented individual with technical aptitudes who is self-motivated, well organized, mature and possesses sound business sense.

Technical Knowledge

  • Functional knowledge of Caterpillar products
  • Functional knowledge of key machine systems and components in relation to potential repair requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
  • instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work within Caterpillar Software and Systems

Computer Skills

Intermediate PC skills (Microsoft Word/Outlook/Excel)

The employee may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in some work environments is occasionally loud.
