The University of Arizona, Campus Health Service (CHS) seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Psychiatrist. This position is responsible for providing psychiatric services for currently enrolled University of Arizona undergrad, graduate, and professional students seeking care at the CHS, as well as providing psychiatric consultation for CHS medical providers and Counseling & Psych Services (CAPS) counseling staff.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric services, including diagnostic work-up, medication evaluation and follow-up.
  • Provide psychiatric consultation to CAPS non-medical practitioners.
  • Provide psychiatric consultation to CHS primary care staff.
  • Provide crisis intervention and brief therapy on a limited basis.
  • Supervise psychiatry residents and/or psychiatric nurse practitioner interns as needed.
  • Demonstrate excellence in clinical skills.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong diagnostic and psychopharmacological skills.
  • Ability to work with students in crisis situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other psychiatric staff on shared patient responsibility.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Medical degree (MD/DO) from an accredited school of medicine or approved school of osteopathic medicine; completion of residency in psychiatry; board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry.
  • Current licensure by the Arizona State Board of Medical & Osteopathic Examiners, or will obtain licensure by date of hire.
  • Current DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certification.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in providing psychiatric consultation in a multi-disciplinary setting, with both medical and non-medical practitioners.
  • Experience in a university setting or working with college students.
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and background in working with ethnic minority and international patient populations.
  • Alternative language competency.
  • Training and experience in delivery of outpatient psychiatric services in a system setting.
