Occupational Hand Therapist - Plastic Surgery

Summary

As an Occupational Therapist in the Department of Plastic Surgery's Hand Clinic, you will plan and administer occupational therapy program to facilitate rehabilitation to patients who have experienced a hand or upper extremity injury, trauma, disease related condition or surgical intervention. Plan therapy program according to the individual needs of patients.

Full-time schedule consisting of four 10-hour days - Monday through Friday.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations and develop a treatment plan that integrates input from team members, patients and family.

  • Perform therapy in accordance with the treatment plan and evaluate results.

  • Accurately, promptly and thoroughly document patient's care observations, interventions and evaluations.

  • Instruct patient's family or nursing staff in follow-through programs.

  • Maintain therapy equipment and work area in a safe and clean condition.

  • Collaborate with Physicians during patients 1:1 appointment. Pre-clinic evaluations, Orthosis, Home Exercise Programs, etc.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
  • Knowledge of biology, clinical judgment, medicine, cultural awareness, and consulting.

  • Medical documentation, interpersonal, practice-based learning and improvement, empathy, and decision-making skills

Qualifications

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.

Minimum Required Education: Bachelor's Degree

Minimum Required Experience: No experience required

Preferred Education: Bachelor's in Occupational Therapy

Preferred Experience: 1 or more years of experience with hand rehabilitation

Required Certification/Licensure: Certification by the Board of Registry of the American Occupational

Physical Requirements

Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.

Work Environment

Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.

Sensory Acuity

Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
