DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position oversees Water Quality Specialists who carry out investigations, inspections, and compliance activities related to Clean Water programs. It ensures that field operations are effective, safe, and consistent with state policies. As a Water Quality Specialist Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Staff Leadership: Guide Water Quality Specialists by assigning work, reviewing reports, and coaching field performance
  • Inspection Oversight: Review facility operations and inspection results to ensure adherence to procedures and environmental regulations
  • Program Coordination: Support planning, reporting, and communication activities that improve the performance of Clean Water programs
  • Incident Response: Coordinate investigations of spills, pollution incidents, and other emergencies that may affect public health or the environment
  • Enforcement Support: Review violations, prepare referrals, and collaborate with enforcement staff to resolve compliance issues
  • Training Management: Assess staff training needs and implement development plans that strengthen skills and field readiness

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Water Quality Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training which affords the applicant the required knowledges and abilities.

Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Other Requirements:

  • You must possess and maintain a REAL ID or passport for this position. Proof of possession will be needed at the time of a conditional offer of employment.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
