General Summary of Position:

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is seeking to hire a new tenure-track faculty member. The Department presently consists of 26 full-time faculty and is growing. It offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in nearly every sub-discipline of the field. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Chemistry and/or Polymer Science at the undergraduate and graduate levels and develop an active, high quality, externally funded and internationally recognized research program.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):



  • A Ph.D. in chemistry, polymer science, or a closely related discipline is required; postdoctoral experience is preferred.


Applicants at the Assistant Professor level are invited to apply. This search is open to all areas of chemistry, with specific interest in materials chemistry, broadly defined and including polymers; artificial intelligence, including applications to experimental design, data-driven discovery, and autonomous experimentation in chemistry; biophysics and biomaterials; and radiochemistry.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This position is full-time, benefited and in the Massachusetts Society of Professors/MTA/NEA union. Anticipated salary based on qualifications within expected hiring range with minimum $75,000 up to $115,000.
