We are seeking a
Core Facility Technologist II, CKS who will perform a variety of core facility tasks and completes routine research specimen procurement, processing, and shipping, following laboratory and governing regulatory practices in a central services core facility.
The Central Kit Service (CKS) Technologist II is responsible for performing core facility tasks including preparing kits; delivering prepared kits to the outpatient oncology clinics, the Central Processing Core (CPC) and other locations on campus; ordering supplies; receiving shipments and preparing monthly billing reports Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare, qualify, monitor, and maintain standard core facility equipment, including documentation of parameters on log-sheets.
- Monitor inventory of core facility supplies, updating electronic inventory databases posted on shared drives and accessed by study teams, that document inventory levels of research reagents/materials and shipping supplies.
- Perform core facility maintenance, purchase equipment and supplies, and work with vendors.
- Perform competency on select procedures.
- Assemble, qualify, calibrate, clean, make minor repairs, and document daily parameters on log-sheets for core facility equipment.
- Perform routine troubleshooting, working with more sophisticated instrumentation.
- Track itemized service activities to create invoices to ensure that invoices depict services and adhere to institutional requirements.
- Process orders, invoices, and perform other clerical duties.
- Assist with performing monthly audits for quality assurance monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with environmental health and safety guidelines.
- Uphold the highest quality of provided services, ensuring adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS) plan to maintain excellence and compliance in operations.
- Provide good customer service.
- Abide by core facility operational regulations and guidance.
- Other duties as assigned
In addition to the duties described above
- Independently prepare study/visit-specific specimen collection kits including complex visits or kit substitutions and completes requisition forms for subject visits based on core facility procedures and study-specific instructions (SCI).
- Understand and uses the electronic inventory/barcode system to record prepared or destroyed study-specific kits and supplies and enter received kits and supplies.
- Receive, organize and maintain the kits and supplies inventories, including breaking down expired kits, sorting recycled supplies and ordering local supplies.
- Transport kits to outpatient oncology clinics, Central Processing Core and other locations on campus.
- Pick up kits or materials from other departments on campus for transport to the Central Kit facility.
- Train new staff members on core facility workflows and kit preparation.
- Perform competency on select study kit build procedures and review kits prepared by other CKS staff.
- Track itemized service activities to prepare monthly billing reports to ensure study teams are charged appropriately.
- Required to work on a rotating shift as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
- One year of laboratory and/or clinical research experience performing relevant techniques.
- Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/ graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
