What to Expect

Tesla is looking for a driven procurement leader to own the full lifecycle of sourcing across memory hardware - from early technology evaluation through volume production. This role sits at the intersection of hardware strategy and supply chain execution, covering critical components such as NAND, SSD, DRAM, and HDD.

You'll operate as the central point of accountability for securing reliable, cost-competitive supply in some of the industry's tightest component markets - directly enabling Tesla's vehicle, energy, and AI compute platforms.

What You'll Do
  • Define and execute a comprehensive global procurement strategy across all memory component families
  • Build and maintain deep, executive-level relationships with tier-one semiconductor and memory suppliers to secure priority allocation and favorable terms
  • Forecast and secure multi-year supply commitments, navigating technology node transitions, capacity constraints, and market cyclicality
  • Collaborate directly with hardware architecture, firmware, and platform teams to ensure sourcing decisions are informed by - and feed back into - product and technology roadmaps
  • Lead all commercial activities, including contract structuring, pricing models, volume commitments, and joint development agreements
  • Identify and implement total cost of ownership improvements without compromising component reliability, performance, or availability
  • Develop robust contingency frameworks, including qualified secondary sources, regional supply diversification, and real-time market intelligence for proactive risk management
  • Align cross-functional stakeholders - spanning vehicle programs, Dojo, Autopilot hardware, energy products, and corporate IT - around unified sourcing priorities and trade-off decisions

What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management within the semiconductor or memory industry
  • Deep technical understanding of memory technologies - NAND, DRAM, SSD, and HDD - including generation roadmaps, die architectures, and manufacturing processes
  • Proven track record of leading complex, high-value commercial negotiations with major suppliers at the executive level
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to model pricing trends, forecast demand, and evaluate total cost of ownership across component lifecycles
  • Experience navigating constrained and cyclical markets, with demonstrated success in securing supply during periods of allocation
  • Exceptional cross-functional influence - comfortable driving alignment across engineering, product, finance, and executive stakeholders without direct authority
  • Bias toward action - you thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and prefer to move quickly with imperfect information rather than wait for certainty
  • Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field
