We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Quality Technician to help drive improvements to manufacturing processes and develop our understanding of cell product performance. The role involves managing the full life cycle of trials from a quality perspective, including hands-on shop floor work with production tools, data analysis & reporting, and change management. You will be expected to work cross-functionally and support the identification and prioritization of potential product and process failures and help drive both corrective and preventative actions. This ideal candidate for this position will not only have strong analytical skills (Problem-Solving, "soft" skills), but also demonstrated experience running/utilizing a broad range of Automated tools and equipment ("hard" skills).


What You'll Do
  • Assist Manufacturing Quality Engineers in discrete quality improvement projects from "concept to completion" in dynamic manufacturing environments
  • Support quality root cause investigations and resolutions as they relate to factory-controllable issues
  • Support FMEA activities to identify design and manufacturing issues and mitigate risks. Play hands on role in defect samples creation for high-risk factory Quality issues and derisking new product quality issues and assist in creating Red-Rabbits for new Manufacturing processes and create Instructions for Fault injections for use in mass production.
  • Assist in establishing new inspection processes in IPQC area including creating instructions and conducting Gage R&Rs
  • Support quality validations during new cell launches with the goal of implementing quality improvements and exceeding build quality targets and support definition of quality and process requirements as a part of Tesla's global operating standards
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and product specifications to determine best practices that meet or exceed Tesla's quality standards and support the overall team in building and implementing appropriate quality audit standards and procedures

What You'll Bring
  • 0 to 5 years' experience in manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and evidence of exceptional experience, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with lithium-ion cells or high reliability products like medical or aerospace is preferred
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of inspection techniques for geometric, mechanical, chemical characteristics
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across levels and functions
  • Must possess a bias for action, with the ability to remain engaged, proactive, and positive in challenging circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for overall success
  • Must have command of the English language both written and verbal

Essential Physical Demands:

  • Stand for long periods, lift up to 50lbs., and work in a fast-paced, noisy environment
  • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and work in varying temperatures and environments
  • Ability to climb, bend, stoop, and kneel as needed
  • Ability to wear PAPR and work extended hours inside the lab
