Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative media relations executive to join the Syneos Health Corporate Affairs Practice as a freelance EVP. The Corporate Affairs Practice is a consultancy that provides corporate branding, executive visibility, thought leadership, internal communications, risk and reputation management, media relations, corporate social responsibility and corporate communications expertise. The client roster includes large, small and mid-size companies in the pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device, health insurance and consumer health space.

This is an opportunity for the right candidate to establish themselves as a go-to corporate media relations counselor. The successful candidate will have:

• Proficiency developing large scale and milestone media strategies and presentations and executing those programs
• Experience directly interfacing with client leadership from communications leaders to client CEOs.
• Evidence of established top-tier media relationships and of placing business and corporate news and agenda setting coverage in print, online media as well as broadcast outlets
• A demonstrated track record of uncovering and securing opportunities for expert commentary.
• Skill in identifying stories and developing compelling pitches that differentiate clients within the industry/competitive landscape
• Ability and confidence in developing and delivering media trainings
• Comfort developing media recommendations for new business proposals and participating in new business presentations/pitch meetings

Required credentials

• 8-10 years of experience in corporate media relations - experience working with small, mid-size or large healthcare companies is a plus
• Agency or in-house background
• EVP- level candidate
• Deep relationships with top-tier business, health and tech journalists
• Strong writer - prose as well as PPT presentations
• Experience with media databases

Responsibilities

• The ideal candidate will be a high energy, collaborative individual who can work directly with client executives and agency teams to achieve media relations goals
• Direct and support creation of media strategies
• Regularly present recommendations to clients
• Provide regular analysis, insights and commentary on media trends.
• Conduct proactive media relations
• Oversee development of media materials (media lists, press releases, pitch points, key messages, coverage reports)
• Mentor and teach junior staff on the fundamentals of media relations.
• Develop meaningful relationships with journalists

The anticipated hourly rate for this position is XX but may vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role.
