Position Summary

The Export Logistics Planner will efficiently manage the transportation of international bulk container truck moves to plant and customer locations; strategically manage inventories and container moves to ensure customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Efficiently manage the transportation of export containers truck moves to plant and customer locations.
  • Strategically manage transportation routes while meeting or exceeding the financial goals of business unit and company.
  • Ensures all appropriate information, ie reports, documentation meets all requirements.
  • Update account managers on service issues and freight cost variations and to ensure service meets sale expectations.
  • Recruit and maintain adequate number of freight vendors to support customer base.
  • Analyze transportations costs and maintain carrier rate tables.
  • Communicates schedules to export customers from preloading through destination.
  • Audit freight invoices for accuracy and monitor accessorial charges.
  • Negotiate rates with ocean carriers
  • Prepares and handles any cargo insurance and any related claims
  • Negotiates any demurrage or detention claims with carriers.
  • Analyze data to monitor performance and plan improvements in transportation costs.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 + years' experience in an Export Supply Chain or Logistics environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize ERP systems and proficient use of Microsoft Office.
  • NOTE: After hours and weekend coverage occasionally required.
