Position Summary

Responsible for program development, continuous improvement and implementation of work planning and process control program. Includes management of employees responsible for short and long-range maintenance planning, coordination and scheduling of routine and outage maintenance activities. Coordinates contracted and organization maintenance staff resources, monitors spare parts inventory and system load requirements to minimize overall time and cost of maintenance activities. Creates, reviews and evaluates overhaul and outage reports, and incorporates improvement techniques in future procedures and plans. Does not have line responsibilities for plant maintenance.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Development, continuous improvement and implementation of work planning and process control program (work management) which includes the planning and scheduling of all maintenance work activities
  • Development, continuous improvement and implementation of work management metrics
  • Manage, coordinate and distribute 5-year overhaul schedule
  • Manage and support maintenance planning coordinators, work management specialists and others that support work planning and process controls
  • Update/maintain Power Generation Maintenance Philosophy
  • Create work products within the SAP Maintenance Management system and Primavera Project Planner tools
  • Manages and maintains PaSTA work management system to include integration with SAP or another future ERP system
  • Develops performance goals and completes employee performance reviews
  • Develops continual open communication between plant foremen/supervisors, craft employees, Operations Managers, Plant Directors and Maintenance Managers to include monthly meetings with plant management team
  • Develops area budget and assists with budget planning
  • Manages processes that utilizes the Maintenance Management System and assist with identifying reoccurring plant equipment problems including cost
  • Develops and manages contracts for various work management support activities
  • Develop training procedures, documents, checklists, manuals, scheduling and maintenance policies for department and contractor use
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Skills
Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Mid-level exp as a Maint Planning Coord in the Power Gen industry that includes a working knowledge of scheduling/planning tech & a demonstrated ability to plan & sch work assign for outages, shutdowns, & other major work proj for all crafts or groups.
Demonstrated expertise with SAP Maintenance Management System with prior experience implementing configuration changes to support maintenance optimization.
Working knowledge of power plant operations, OSHA safety standards, equipment clearance and confined space entry procedures.
High level of initiative and strong leadership skills with a bias toward effective asset management through condition-based maintenance, continuous improvement and reliability best practices.
Ability to obtain working knowledge of Human Resource policies.
Effective oral and written communication skills; comfortable with presentations, facilitating meetings, and conducting training.
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with all levels of the organization.
Must be dependable, exercise self-discipline and independent judgement.
Ability to keep certain data/information confidential while adhering to established department guidelines.
Must be familiar with craft functionality within department regarding Work Order/Preventative maintenance assignments.
Demonstrated leadership experience to include experience supervising employees, contractors, processes, programs and/or projects within Power Generation.
Familiarity and usage of maintenance management systems, reporting software and SAP.
Advanced technical knowledge and problem-solving skills for maintenance of equipment used in power generation.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail and scheduling.
Valid Class C Texas Driver's License with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Mid-level experience in a supervisory role with responsibilities for hiring, coaching, and conducting performance appraisals
  • Prior experience with change management and process improvement initiatives
  • Working knowledge of Primavera Outage Scheduling software
  • Prior experience implementing Reliability Centered Maintenance and Reliability programs.

Working Environment
Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equip, phone, multi-functioning printer & calculator. Ability to travel to & from meetings, training sessions or other busi-related events.
Physical Demands
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
