Deadline to Apply: August 3, 2026 Power Generation: Nueces Bay Power Station Location: Corpus Christi, Tx Pay Grade 14 Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level Position Summary At Nueces Bay Power station is a 2x1 Combined Cycle plant and Barney Davis Power station is a 2x1 Combined Cycle plant and a conventional steam Boiler/Turbine/Generator, the Power Plant OMT operates, performs regular preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, tests, and makes rounds taking regular readings on all power plant equipment and systems, with primary responsibilities of operation of the water pretreatment and cooling water systems of the plant. Working 12 hr shift with the rest of the Operations team, the Power Plant OMT serves as a first responder to operational events and/or disruptions in the power plant and resolves issues within the Technician's technical skillset. In doing so, the Power Plant OMT - provides safety and environmental stewardship, ensures compliance with all applicable Federal and State regulations and plant procedures and keeps all equipment in optimum operating condition. The Power Plant OMT develops and participates in continuous improvement of operating procedures for plant equipment to ensure consistent and safe operation. Other valuable skills in the area of administration, mechanical, instrumentation and control, and/or electrical maintenance skills are also required. Tasks and Responsibilities Operates, performs regular preventive maintenance, troubleshoots, tests and makes rounds taking regular readings as required to maximize asset value. Serves as a first responder to operational events and/or disruptions in the power plant and resolves issues within the Technician's technical skillset. Documents more complex issues and submits Work Notifications through the electronic Work Management System. Works with and assists Maintenance Technicians to resolve more complex plant issues. Uses Distributed Controls Systems (DCS) to operate power plant equipment, including water treatment systems, turbine controls and Balance of Plant equipment. Administers the Lock-out/ Tag-out process for the power plant. Manages critical work processes including Safe Work Permitting, Hot Work and Confined Space permitting. Executes and develops critical Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistent and safe operation of power plant equipment. Communicates with Control Room Operator and Management on any plant equipment issues. Supports other departments or vendors in troubleshooting equipment. Manages contractors performing work in area. Participates in operator training and continuing training. Manages preventive maintenance tasks and records preventive maintenance activities. Trains and develops other employees in performing preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities. Practices situational leadership, safety and environmental stewardship. Leads equipment or system problem identification and recommends solutions. Ensures that appropriate safety procedures are followed. Performs other duties and tasks as directed by the Sr. Manager Plant Ops & Maintenance. Dependable, reliable and predictable attendance is required. Must possess a valid, in-state motor vehicle operator's license at all times. Minimum Skills Minimum Knowledge and Abilities Previous work experience as a power plant operator or maintenance technician, or equivalent experience in an industrial setting such as chemical plant, refinery, etc. Must pass Mechanical, Reading and Math Aptitude test to be considered for an interview. Strong aptitude in math, mechanical/electrical ability, and production control. Must have the ability to read drawings, understand procedures and instructions required for the competent support of power plant operations and maintenance. Must be able to work in a high-performance work environment and respond to callouts or overtime with minimal supervision. Must have excellent communication and team skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and other PC based applications. All employees have the responsibility to the customer and their co-workers to meet the plant's objectives and customer's needs in both an accurate and timely manner. Valid Class C Texas Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications Maintenance skills including, electrical, mechanical or instrumentation are preferred. Demonstrated experience in a power, steam generation, or other industrial facility is desirable. Combined Cycle power plant experience preferred. Employee may potentially be exposed to hazardous chemicals, wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather, noisy and dusty environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. After hours work may be required. Physical Demands Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
